And the headlines for today - you do you, boo (at least from the waist down)
So, I've been doing a lot of Zoom meetings lately... I'm a bit behind the times; I know everyone else has been Zooming it up large through the whole lockdown situation, but I'm still coming to terms with it.
And I have to say, one of my favourite things about Zoom meetings is the new fashion trend - Newsreader Attire.
My friends with more 'traditional' jobs, who were working remotely for about two months through lockdown (and some of whom wisely haven't gone back to the office as yet), would have a laugh about going "Newsreader" and I have to admit I never really got it... Like, I got it! Hahaha... no pants...!
But I didn't *get* it, get it. I didn't get the joy of it.
Until today.
I had a meeting at 9:30am. This is the time in the morning where, if you're like me, you've managed to get the educational facility drop-off done and it's about time to have a nice quiet cup of tea and a sit down before getting into everything else you have to fit in a day.
Cup of tea prepped, I looked up and saw my 9:30am Zoom meeting was about to hit - and I realised I was absolutely inappropriately attired to be seen by 'Real Professionals'... Gah!
My friends, I have to admit I panicked. I ran around trying to get my face in order, my hair under control, and some resemblance of sensible, black coverage up top.
And down below, do you know what was going on?
I was wearing undies. Just undies... Bright, colourful, comfy undies - and socks upon my toasty warm feet. That was it!
What a feeling... the feeling of freedom, a secret held, a sense of individuality outside of the beige/black masks we wear when we're trying to fit in and get stuff done. I totally got it, then...the 'Newsreader Attire' - it lets you still be the happy you, when you're in the drudgery of day-to-day, and incessant Zoom meetings.
It lets you keep your colour!
And the best part of it? I didn't forget and accidentally stand up halfway through. I'm calling that a win.
